Judith Ross Enderle and Stephanie Jacob Gordon (Tessler)
Web site: www.writersinkville.com

Judith Ross Enderle and Stephanie Jacob Gordon (Tessler) met in a writing class at UCLA. Both saw their first published words in the pages of Highlights for Children magazine. Since then, they have coauthored numerous books for young people, from picture books to young adult novels, including the short chapter book What's the Matter, Kelly Beans?, the award-winning picture book, Six Sleepy Sheep, the Children's Choice books Two Badd Babies and Six Snowy Sheep, and their newest picture book for Boyds Mills Press, Upstairs. On the bookshelf and in children's magazines, you'll find their work under their individual names and under the pseudonyms, Jeffie Ross Gordon and J.R. Gordon.

Judy and Stephanie helped launch and for over eight years worked as co-editors of the Fox Broadcasting Children's Network magazine, Totally Fox Kids. They served as story editors and writers for the first season of the Fox children's television program, "Rimba's Island" which received both NEA and PTA endorsements as quality children's television. Other television and film efforts include the scripting of an episode of the "Corduroy" animated series entitled "The Circus," for Lin Oliver Productions and Viacom. "Language is fun. Our favorite stories are those that make young people laugh," say Judy and Stephanie. "It's very exciting to do a job you love and know that children everywhere love you for doing it." And judging by their reviews and endorsements, appearance requests, and fan mail, children, teachers, librarians, and other children's literary advocates they have met personally and through their writing, do love their work. When they aren't writing, they can be found sharing their stories in bookstores and in schools, lecturing at conferences, workshops, and retreats to adults who want to learn to write, working as freelance editors, or critiquing manuscripts for other children's writers through their Los Angeles-based business, Writers Ink.

Judy and Stephanie are active in many areas of children's writing. Both are board members of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, members of the Southern California Council on Literature for Children and Young People, the Association of Booksellers for Children, the Southern California Children's Booksellers Association, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Between them they have six grown children, two dogs and two cats, a lot of fun, and a lot of wacky words yet to be written!
