Support the Author FestivalEvery other year, Humboldt County hosts the Children’s Author Festival. Twenty-five authors come from all over the United States and spend two days inspiring, delighting and encouraging a love for books and reading to thousands of children in schools throughout the county. The biennial festival is produced by a dedicated group of librarians, teachers, and other community members, who volunteer their time and energies to bring this upbeat event to enrich our local schools. The festival is paid for in part by a book sale and author signing event held at our Humboldt County Library in Eureka for the general public. Additional financial assistance is received from the Friends of the Redwood Libraries and the Humboldt Area Foundation. Over the years, expenses have increased, creating a funding challenge. Until recently, there has not been an easy way for the community to support this important effort. Now there is. Won’t you consider lending a helping hand so that the Children’s Author Festival will continue to enrich the lives of our children? Individuals are invited to “Adopt an Author,” and businesses have several opportunities to make a difference and receive sponsorship credit. Adopt an AuthorChoose how you want to adopt an author: Fly an author to Humboldt County for $500 A donor at this level will receive an invitation to the Welcome Authors Reception at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, and three free books at the special invitation only book autographing session. Pay hotel lodging for an author for $250 A donor at this level will receive an invitation to the Welcome Authors Reception at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, and two free books at the special invitation only book autographing session. Feed an author for $125 A donor at this level will receive an invitation to the Welcome Authors Reception at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, and one free book at the special invitation only book autographing session. Friend to an author for $50 This donor at this level will receive an invitation to the Welcome Authors Reception at the Morris Graves Museum of Art. Public acknowledgement of sponsors names will be made on the Web site, signs at the book sale, the welcome reception and the banquet.
